How to Record a Lambing Event on the FarmWizard App
From the home screen on your android device select the ‘Lambing’ screen. The Lambing event is one of the more complex pieces of information you will record on your FarmWizard App. You will need to scan both the Ewe tag and record the attributes of the lambing event for the Ewe and also enter the lamb or lambs onto the system as well.
Select ‘Read Ewe Tag’ at the top of the screen and ensure your stick reader is powered on and scan the Ewe tag. You will see the Ewe’s EID number and visible tag fields are now populated. The next field to populate is the ‘Birth Diff’ where you can record birthing assistance if appropriate.
There is a check box to declare whether it is a male lamb and a box to enter the birth weight. If the lamb is female simply ignore the male box and enter the birth weight. Select your breed and if the animal is a cross of the breed select the tick box. Stillborns can be recorded in the next box. This is a drop down selection box, select the number of stillborns if applicable. If you have Rams on the database, they are displayed in the next box allowing you to select the appropriate one.
Finally select the ‘Add Birth’ box. The App will confirm that the birth has been recorded and the data will transfer to your data base when you next synchronise. You can now leave the lambing screen and return to the home screen.
Look under ‘Recorded Events Management’ button, select ‘Pending Events’ you will see the new birth event in the table. You can record as many birth events as you need to on any given lambing day and check that they have been recorded by checking this screen. You will see to the right hand side of each event, you can delete the event if it is erroneous. Once satisfied, go back to the home screen. Once you return to an area where you have an internet connection, whether that is through mobile data or broadband, make sure you press ‘Synchronise’, confirm you are online. The first message you will receive will confirm ‘all events submitted’. Select OK. You will get 2 ore confirmations the database updating successfully and synchronisation is complete. All of the lambing information will now have been transferred to the main cloud account and you can now view reports for: Ewe fertility, lamb weight and find the lamb identity tags on the system as well.
