FarmWizard is the leading cloud-based software package for managing farm livestock, including easy-to-use functionality for legislative record keeping and enterprise performance monitoring.

You can access your livestock records from many types of computer and mobile device that connect to the Internet including:

Android and Apple mobile devices will work “offline” so that you can view and record livestock data when no Internet connection is available.

Remote Desktop

The support methods allows you to grant permission to the support technician for a remote login session with your PC.  This may be appropriate during a telephone call, or by prior appointment depending on nature of the issue.

Before You Start

1.Please ensure that you have a broadband Internet connection available at each location where you wish to access your herd data via a desktop or laptop computer

2.You can use a Windows PC or Apple Mac with the system.  Though you can use any web browsing program to access the main data entry and reporting screens, we strongly recommend the Google Chrome browser for best results.

3.If you don’t have Chrome installed, you can download it for free – use the web address www.google.com/chrome or type “google chrome” into an Internet search engine

4.To work with your herd data using a Smartphone or Tablet computer, please refer to the separate user guide (Note: you need to have a valid license for mobile access)

5.Ensure you have your FarmWizard login details to hand.  These will have been sent to your nominated email address by the Service Desk

6.You should decide on a date when you will begin sending passport applications and movement notifications through the system.  If anyone else is involved with registering passports or movements with the BCMS, we recommend that you make them aware of this change-over date

7.For cattle, if you have registered for the BCMS reporting channel “CTS Web Services for farm software” and provided the log-in details the the FarmWizard Service Desk, your FarmWizard account will be “live-linked” to the BCMS Cattle Tracing System.  Once this is done, any birth or movement events that you choose to notify via FarmWizard will be sent to the BCMS automatically at around 9.30am on the day after the events were entered.
Note: it is also possible to do this manually if you want to submit to the BCMS as soon as you have entered the notifiable events.

Logging in to FarmWizard

Open a website browsing program (Google Chrome recommended) and type the following website address into the browser address bar.  The address bar is usually located at the top of the web browser window and may contain a website address like “http://www.somewebsite.com”

Enter your FarmWizard User ID and Password and click Login

Logging out of FarmWizard

When you have finishing working with your livestock data, you can log out of your account by simply closing the browser tab that contains the FarmWizard websiteor you can completely close the Web browser program

Common Navigation and Screen Controls

The FarmWizard screen navigation works like any other website, with simple mouse clicks to access screens and make selections for data entry.

Main menus

The main menu links are displayed across the top of all screens.  Hovering your mouse pointer over each one will reveal a sub menu with further options.  When you hover your mouse pointer over a text link within a sub menu the pointer will change to a hand icon (shown below); single left click with your mouse to move to that screen.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Clicking the Home link will always return you to the home screen dashboard from any other screen.

Data Entry Screens

The data entry screens work in a similar fashion to traditional Windows programs.  You will see familiar text boxes, drop-down lists and buttons.  When you see coloured, underlined text (shown below), you can click on it to display further information or move to another screen.

 

The “learning list”

Many data entry screens contain drop down lists for things like treatment reasons, staff names and farm names.  When you are entering a record and need to add a new list item, click the drop-down and select “Other, enter value >” .  Enter the name of the new list item into the text box the the immediate right of the drop down list.

When you complete and save the record, the new item will be added to the list for future use.   Any list item that has not been used for the previous six months will be automatically removed.

The Multi-Select List Box

List boxes are used to select one or more animal IDs on several screens including the Quick Links and Batch Manager.

Selecting IDs

To select animals within the listbox, hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard, and single left click on each record while scrolling down the list.

To select a block of contiguous IDs, hold down the Ctrl key, click on the first required record and then the last one. All records within the defined range will be selected.

Deselecting IDs

To deselect animal IDs, hold down the Ctrl key and single left click on the required record.

Data Grids

Data grids are used on some screens like the Herd List. They are also generated when you run a custom rule report.  You can sort the data in many of the grid columns by clicking on the required column heading (see below).

Report generated grids can be downloaded to a spreadsheet file (Excel xls and csv) or saved as a PDF document suitable for direct printing.
