Adding New Animals In Batch To The Farmwizard App

In this FarmWizard help video, we have a look at adding some new animals onto the FarmWizard App in a batch. Before you go out in the morning and leave wi-fi behind, press on synchronise and wait for the two messages to confirm that synchronisation is complete. You are now ready to go out and if necessary, loose your internet connection.

You are ready to begin adding new animals in batch to the FarmWizard App. Go to add new so at the top you have a button to “start reading tags” the main body of the screen is the attribute data of the animals you are scanning. If you have purchased a large batch, perhaps some new lambs and they are all of the same birth year and the same breed you can simply set the attributes so your default breed shows. You can change that if required. Next you can set the approximate date they were born and the date they came onto the holding. You can set them to a group if you are using groups in your FarmWizard software. You can also scan, if you are buying the lambs and ewes together then you can scan the ewe tag too.

The first thing is to make sure that your stick reader is powered on, as you have set the animal attributes as they are all of the same batch. Tick the box which says “assign details below to all animals?” You are ready to go, press “start reading tags” and the app should report that its ready to scan.

Your phone will vibrate as you scan each one onto the App. Once you have scanned all your animals, you will see the number of animals successfully scanned in the counter at the top and the drop down list showing the ID of each animal you have scanned. Down at the bottom you have the full list. Once you are satisfied you have recorded every animal, press volume down on the android device to stop the scanning. If you want to save these records straight away, press “OK”. If you need to edit any of the attribute data just press cancel, that will take you back to the grid and you can edit the attribute data if you need too. Then press the “add new” button.

The App will tell you that the animals have been recorded and they will be ready to be transferred to the main cloud account once you synchronise once again. Press “OK” and press “back” to go to the home screen. If you have a look at “recorded events management” and press “view pending events” scroll down you will see the batch event, adding your new animals to the database. You can delete them if you want to, by pressing “delete”, it will ask you to confirm, just to be sure. If happy, return to the front screen and press “synchronise” to send the through to the cloud based FarmWizard App. As soon as you do that it, the App will ask you to confirm that you connected to the internet. Select “OK”, you will receive a confirmation message “all events submitted” now the rest of the synchronisation will complete.

Now you can see at the top it still say the original number of animals loaded, reflecting the number on the app before you started scanning the new animals. You just need to synchronise again to get the updated animal list, which will pull from the master animal list. Press “synchronise” again and you will receive a confirmation message and that should have the updated quantity of animals loaded. If you have more batches to record simply repeat this process.
